June Coykendall, 15, a sophomore at Brevard High, has a few things to say about her high school tennis experience.
Coykendall picked up tennis about 5 years ago and was inspired by having a sport she truly loved and enjoyed playing.
Her most memorable moment was during her freshman year. Coykendall and her opponent went to deuce every match, until the end, when she took the win. That moment reminds her to never give up.
Coykendall’s advice for handling pressure in a match is to stay focused and remember that there is always the next point.
“It’s never too late to come back,” Coykendall said.
Being a good teammate means a lot to her.
“You are not only representing yourself, but also your team. Your attitude matters and reflects how you play,” Coykendall said.
