Each week, Broadcaster staff writer Selah Pearson will introduce a new animal in the BHS animal science program.
Brianna, a 4-year-old Angus-Hereford cow, was born at the Brevard High School FFA farm in 2019. She has been at the farm since she was born.
Brianna likes snacks, and her favorite snack is grain. She got out of the pasture one day and animal science teacher Mrs. Clayton lured her back to the farm with some buttered rolls.
Brianna is Clayton’s favorite animal at the barn.
“She was born at the farm, was a part of our livestock show team, then has had two beautiful calves,” Clayton said. “She is a wonderful mother and will often let other calves nurse on her. She’s also very food motivated and likes snacks… just like me!”
Brevard High has a 30-acre farm near the softball field for its animal science and agriculture classes and the Future Farmers of America (FFA) club to use throughout the year. Brianna is one of several cows at the farm, which also houses goats, chickens, two farm dogs, puppies and farm cats.
