On Tuesday, the Brevard Lady Devils soccer team played their long-time rivals, the Hendersonville High Bearcats.

In over 15 years, the closest Brevard High has come to beating Hendersonville was on May 1, 2024, when they tied 2-2 in overtime, according to MaxPreps

However, this streak was broken when the Lady Devils defeated the Bearcats 2-1 at home Tuesday. The home bleachers were packed, as all students in Transylvania County were allowed free admission.

In the first half, Charlie Goodwin and Patience Pandolfo each scored, putting BHS ahead 2-0 before the half. With 18 minutes left in the second half, the Bearcats scored.

While both teams had excellent attempts in the remaining time, the Bearcats were unable to get things going. This resulted in the Lady Devils’ first win against the Bearcats in over 15 years.

The team now has a conference record of 6-0. BHS will play at Polk County High on Thursday, April 10, the team’s last game before spring break.
