The men’s and women’s track teams will compete in the conference championships today, Wednesday, April 30 at Polk County High, after a successful regular season with many highlights.
The teams traveled to T.C. Roberson High for their third meet Thursday, April 25 and had top finishers in several events, including Eli Griffin winning the boys 100-meter dash and placing second in the 200-meter dash. Keaton Campbell won the 1600-meter run and 3,200-meter run, with Avan Hinkle behind him for second place in both events.
The men’s 4×200 relay team took first place, along with the 4×800 men’s relay team, and the 4×100 and 4×400 teams placed second.
The girls also had lots of success, with Tyana Crite winning the 100-meter dash. Kylie Campbell finished second in the 1,600-meter run. Samora Griffin placed first in shot put and second in the discus throw, while Riley Blackwell placed second in the shot put.
Coach Ben Morgan said both teams have a high chance for success at the Mountain 7 Foothills Conference Championship.
