Students and staff showed their love for Principal Mick Galloway Thursday, May 1, cheering as he was presented with a plaque recognizing his leadership and dedication.
In a surprise move at the end of Senior Signing Day, Galloway was called to the podium by emcee and social studies teacher Richard Stubbs, who told the packed gym that it was also National School Principals’ Day.
“Mick, you are an amazing principal, boss, mentor and friend,” Stubbs told him. “And I really appreciate all that you do for us.”
Student Body President Caz Kimsey said Galloway “always treats us with the utmost respect, treats us like we’re family and not like we’re subjects,” and “comes from a side of understanding instead of punishment.”
Kimsey reminded the crowd that Galloway was supposed to retire two years ago, adding, “We are forever grateful he decided to stay.”
The plaque presented to Galloway reads:
“In heartfelt recognition of your unwavering dedication, inspirational leadership, and steadfast commitment to fostering a school community where every student and staff member thrives.
“Thank you for leading with vision, compassion, and courage. Your impact today shapes the successes of tomorrow.
“With gratitude, the Brevard High School Family.”
