Members of the Brevard High Class of 2025 were recognized Thursday, May 1 during the first BHS Senior Signing Day in the gymnasium, which was packed with students, staff and family.
The event had the atmosphere of a pep rally, with performances by the BHS cheerleaders and marching band.

Seniors entered the gym through a tunnel to cheers from those in the packed gym. They were then called by name to sign the Class of 2025 banner and be recognized for their post-graduation decisions, whether they plan to attend a two- or four-year college, enlist in the military or enter the workforce.
Emcee and social studies teacher Richard Stubbs first announced the name of each college and those seniors who planned to attend, then called the names of students entering the military. He ended by announcing the names of seniors entering the workforce by profession.
Principal Mick Galloway was also honored on National School Principals’ Day, described by Stubbs as “an amazing principal, boss, mentor, and friend.”
Student Body President Caz Kimsey said Galloway “comes from a side of understanding” instead of punishment. “Mick always treats us with the utmost respect, treats us like we’re family and not like we’re subjects.”
Kimsey reminded the student body that Galloway was supposed to retire two years ago, adding, “We are forever grateful he decided to stay.”
