This year, Brevard High will celebrate its annual Homecoming week Sept. 22-26, filled with traditions and fun.
Homecoming week includes many events and traditions such as daily dress-up themes for students and staff, a bonfire to celebrate the rivalry between our football team and the opposing school, a pep rally on Friday to get everyone excited for the football game, a homecoming dance during the weekend, and of course, the BHS Homecoming Court presentation.
Along with all the traditions celebrated during the week, the student body is able to vote for two male and two female students in grades 9-11 to represent their class on the Homecoming Court. The senior class will have six male and six female representatives.
Students who decide they want to run to be on Homecoming Court will usually advertise themselves by posting on their social media platforms, such as instagram and snapchat.
The 2025 BHS Homecoming Court:
Seniors: Ezra Ashworth, Morgan Baldridge, Ella Burdette, Janielynn Fowler, Olivia Hankey, Addison Worley, Brady Anderson, Grant Buchanan, Shaymos Geor, Karter Macfie, Chandler Niven and Jax Whitmire.
Juniors: Patience Boyd, June Coykendall, Holmes Desmelik and Luke McLauchlin.
Sophomores: Veronica Jacques, Annabelle Lovelace, Kendrick Conley and Brayden Crain.
Freshmen: Enslee Lambert, Rileigh Collier, John Hunt and Brayton Perry.
The selected members of the court will then choose an escort of the opposite gender to walk with during a schoolwide presentation, which will take place at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24 in the auditorium. Family members and friends of the court members are encouraged to attend.
Along with this presentation, senior girls will participate in the football game halftime show on Friday, Sept. 26, escorted on the field by their parents or guardians. During these presentations, the court members’ extracurricular involvement and future plans after high school will be announced.
This year’s Homecoming football game will be held Friday, Sept. 26, with kickoff at 7:30 p.m. at the stadium. Brevard will be up against North Henderson High. BHS students will also be encouraged to dress in the theme during the football game, which is “blue and white.”
During halftime, the female seniors on the Homecoming Court will be presented and the 2025 Homecoming queen announced.
A fun tradition that BHS takes part in before the football game is the bonfire, which will be held from 7:30-9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24 in the soccer lot. Entertainment will be provided by the cheer teams, drumline and DJ club. S’mores kits will be sold for $1.

At the end of the school day Friday, BHS has a tradition of hosting a pep rally in the gym to get everyone hyped up and excited for the game that night. The pep rally includes performances from the cheer squads, band and color guard.
All fall-sport athletes are celebrated and invited to run into the gym when their team name is called. The pep rally also includes games between students and staff. And the most known tradition of them all is the fight for the spirit stick. Each year at the homecoming pep-rally, each grade is separated into different sections of the bleachers, and they are challenged to see which grade has the most school spirit by yelling a chant about BHS. The loudest section receives the valued prize of the spirit stick.
Each year during Homecoming week, students are encouraged to dress in a daily theme. For this year’s Homecoming, the themes are:
Monday-Generations Day:
9th grade – Kids
10th grade – Teens
11th grade – Adults
12th grade – Senior citizens
Staff- Wear whatever you would like!
Tuesday– Soccer moms vs. barbecue dads
Wednesday– Dress as your favorite meme
Thursday-Rhyme without reason
Friday-Blue and White day
This year’s Homecoming Dance will be held from 8-11 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Brevard Lumberyard. Student Council and FCCLA (Family Career and Community Leaders of America) are sponsoring the dance this year.
