The Brevard High media center is celebrating Halloween Oct. 8 through 29 with festivities including a display of scary books available for checkout, a competition for short stories, poetry and artwork, a weekly trivia contest and a horror book spine poetry competition.

Anyone can enter the writing and artwork contest, and short stories and poems cans be about any topic. One winner will be chosen in each category and the prize is a $10 Starbucks or Amazon gift card plus something from the liberty store of your choosing. Entries will be accepted until Oct. 29.

Each week there will be a trivia contest. Fill out a sheet and enter the weekly drawing for a chance to win a bag of candy of your choice. Trivia sheets can be found in the library and can be turned into Media Specialist Jennifer Heaslip.

There is also a book spine poetry contest. Book spine poems are created using titles shown on the spines of books. The winner will get a bag of candy of your choice.

There are also Halloween-themed bookmarks and coloring sheets available.

Students can come to the library before school, during class changes or with teacher permission during class.

To enter any of the competitions, email Heaslip at jheaslip@tcsnc.org or stop by the library.
