This year’s annual Holiday Window Competition in downtown Brevard will begin Nov. 28 and end Dec. 31.

Businesses will create their best window decorations and compete for awards from Heart of Brevard. Window decorations often include festive displays lit up with colorful lights.

In 2024, Highland Books, located at 46 W. Main St., won “Best Interpretation of Theme.”

The “People’s Choice Award” went to A Blast from the Past at 15 W. Main St., and PLATT Home at 40 W. Jordan St. won ana ward for “Best WOW Factor.”

Newfound Artisan at 22 W. Jordan St. won “Best Use of Recycled Materials,” and “Best Use of Merchandise” was awarded to D.D. Bullwinkle’s Outdoors, located at 60 E. Main St.

“The downtown displays brought joy to both residents and visitors, beautifully capturing the magic of the holiday season… we are incredibly grateful to the businesses, judges and everyone who came downtown to celebrate with us, helping make this year’s event a true success,” Heart of Brevard Executive Director Nicole Bentley said in a Transylvania Times article on Dec. 19, 2024.

Some people might see the brightly lit Christmas decor and wonder what it is forr.

“I see the decorations and lights in the windows downtown all the time, but I didn’t know it was for a competition or anything like that,” said Amaree Swarn. “I like seeing all the different decorations in the windows. It’s pretty cool.”
