Poem of the day

Today’s poem, “Being,” was written by Tanaya Winder, and it emphasizes connection and purpose. She uses vivid imagery to involve nature. Tanaya’s message through this poem is a calling to live a life in community and purpose.

It begins:

Wake up, greet the sun, and pray.
Burn cedar, sweet grass, sage—
sacred herbs to honor the lives we’ve been given,
for we have been gifted these ways since the beginning of time.
