Lola Galloway is a junior at Brevard High and a member of the concert and marching bands. She has always loved music and finds it inspirational, which is why she decided to join band.
Galloway chose to play the trumpet at BHS because it’s what she has wanted to play since she was a little girl. If she had to play a different instrument, it would be the flute because “it’s so whimsical.”
What Galloway loves most about band class is making music, seeing her friends and having a good teacher, Mr. Jimeson.
“He is the best teacher. I love how well he works with a range of students,” she said. “He’s like a teddy bear.”
Galloway’s favorite thing to do in band is MPA performances, where you play on a stage in front of multiple judges. Playing halftime shows at football games is another one of her favorite things, getting to play what she and everyone else has worked so hard on, even though they are very tiring performances.
In her free time, she enjoys playing Roblox and having sleepovers with her friends.
After graduation, she hopes to stay in a band-related field to continue playing the trumpet, but also has an interest in cosmetology.
Band is an important part of Lola’s life, as she “tries her hardest even when no one else does,” said Adam Banks.
Galloway recommends band to anyone interested, but wants people to know it is a time commitment and requires lots of practice.
