There is no official date just yet for signing the Senior Rock, so 2026 grads should keep an eye out for details.  

“Sometime between Thanksgiving and winter break,” is the estimate from math teacher Blakely Crain, who is also a graduation coordinator.

“I think it is really fun, a fun day for seniors,” she said.

Last year, seniors added their names to the rock on Jan. 6. However, the class of 2023 signed the rock on Dec. 20, 2022.

Signing the rock is a tradition at BHS. What started the rock signing was a “competition with Rosman High School,” said math teacher Amanda Chapman, who is also a graduation coordinator.

Turns out we are always competing with Rosman for something, so of course when one of us has a senior rock signing, the other is going to have one too.  

Student Council paints the rock each year to get it ready for the next class.

“It was fun; when I was a senior I did it,” Chapman added.

The Senior Rock is located at the front of the school and was donated by Vulcan Materials Quarry of Penrose.
