John Hogan is one of Brevard High’s most popular and beloved teachers. He has been teaching world and American history for 20 years.
In his early life he attended Duke University, where he earned his M.A. in political science, and he specialized in international elations, comparative politics, political theory and international history.
He also has enjoyed a surfing lifestyle, having surfed for roughly 60 years.
Hogan has worked at Brevard High since 2006. He and his wife originally bought a house here 25 years ago before he started to pursue his teaching career.
“I like working, and exchanging ideas, and I enjoy working with high school students,” Hogan said about his decision to teach.
Hogan has benefited multiple students at BHS. Some kids push to go even higher in world history because of his teaching.
“He’s such a good teacher, and kind. I like how he always finds a way to keep the positivity in the air and in his energy, even when he’s having a bad day or just not his day,” said Kaylee Mckee.
“Mr. Hogan has definitely caused me to strive to be better, and more educated, especially in geographical and historical terms,” said Anna Cantrell.
