Olivia Hankey, managing editor

Hankey, a senior at BHS, is the managing editor of The Broadcaster after leading the revival of the newspaper, first as a club in 2023 and then as a class for the 2024-25 school year. Her role at The Broadcaster is to oversee the staff and ensure smooth, timely production of content. This is her fifth semester on The Broadcaster staff.

Hankey was born in Hilton Head, S.C. and moved to Brevard in 2019. Outside of school, she enjoys playing for the women’s golf team, hanging out with friends and family, reading and writing and spending time outside.

After high school, she plans to attend a four-year university to major in communications and work in the journalism field.

Mary Fritschie

Fritschie is the creative writing director for The Broadcaster. She is a 16-year-old junior who has been on The Broadcaster team for two semesters. Fritschie was born in Bella Vista, Ark. and moved to Brevard in 2024.

She enjoys writing poetry, hiking, going on road trips and listening to music. After graduating, she plans to attend a four-year university to major in psychology.

Ben Manoogian

Manoogian is a 17-year-old senior who joined The Broadcaster because it interested him. He enjoys reading his Bible as well as spending time with his girlfriend. This is Manoogian’s second year on the staff, and he covers general assignments for The Broadcaster.

Rosa Olivares

Olivares, 18, is a senior at BHS. She is one of the photo editors for The Broadcaster. Olivares is a returning staff member who joined the team because she wants to gain experience and become a better writer.

In her free time, Olivares likes to read and write.

Gracie Robinson

Robinson, a 17-year-old senior, joined The Broadcaster because of her passion for writing. She is in charge of student life and event reporting and is in her second year on the staff.  In her free time, she also enjoys Bible journaling.

Scarlett Vanderlinden

Vanderlinden, 17, is a senior and a returning staff member who serves as a photo editor for The Broadcaster. She joined the newspaper staff to gain experience. She plans to go to college to study journalism and photography, and hopes to become a journalist.

In her free time, she enjoys fencing and writing music.

Anna Cantrell

Cantrell is a sophomore who has joined the broadcaster for the first time to improve her writing skills.

Born and raised in Brevard, she enjoys any of the arts, especially music and painting. She also enjoys hiking, reading, Bible study/journaling, roller coasters and long car rides.
