Students and staff filled the front lawn of Brevard High Friday afternoon to cheer on the Blue Devil football game as the team left for Hickory a day before the school’s biggest game in 43 years.
The Blue Devils will face the Reidsville High Rams for the NCHSAA 4A State Championship on Saturday, Dec. 13 at Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory. This is the first time since 1982 that Brevard High has played for a state championship.

Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. and tickets are $20, as set by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association. Tickets can be bought via GoFan or with cash at the gate.
The game will also be available to watch on WMYA-TV (channel My40).
