A large crowd of Blue Devil faithful was on hand for the 4A state championship football game Saturday at Lenoir-Rhyne University. The BHS varsity team made history by making it to the school’s first championship in 43 years, bringing an undefeated 14-0 record into the matchup with Reidsville High.
BHS lost the game, 50-20, but not before showcasing their talents. Wide receiver Tristan Thompson-Wyn was named Offensive Player of the Game, linebacker Jax Whitmire was named Defensive Player of the Game and quarterback Ben Kessinger received the Sportsmanship Award.

Athletic Director Josh Galloway praised the team in his weekly Blue & White newsletter.
“This team achieved what no other Brevard team has done in 43 years, capturing the hearts of our community along the way. More important than the wins, the grit, and the determination they showed was the class and character with which they played every single down.
“They represented our school, their families, and this community with dignity and pride, setting a high standard for all future Blue Devils. We could not be prouder of their accomplishments and the way they conducted themselves.”
Galloway also thanked the community and those responsible for the logistics in the newsletter.
