The Brevard High women’s and men’s track and field teams were well represented at the 4A West Regional meet at UNC Asheville May 8 and the 4A State Championship at N.C. A&T State University in Greensboro May 13.

Junior Keaton Campbell won the 1-mile and 2-mile runs at the regional meet and placed second in both events at state. Connor Wood placed 10th in the event at regionals.

Maddie Galloway and Hadley Merritt placed second and third in the 800-meter run at regionals and fifth and sixth at the state championship.

TyeKavian Griffin won the high jump at the regional meet and placed eighth at state.

Cooper White placed second in the 300-meter hurdles at regionals and 14th at state.

Samora Griffin, who placed second at the regional meet in shot put and eleventh in discus, went on to finish ninth at the state meet in shot put, while Riley Blackwell placed sixth in the event at regionals.

In the women’s 1-mile run, Veronica Jacques placed fourth at Regionals and 12th at state; Paige Dinsdale placed seventh at regionals; and Katie Futrelle placed eighth at regionals.

In the women’s 2-mile run, Kylie Campbell placed third at regionals and seventh at state, and Lila Hipp placed 11th at regionals.

Maddix Robinson placed seventh and Myrikal Collington placed 12th at regionals in the 100-meter dash.

The women’s 4×800 relay placed fourth at both the regional and state meets.
