Pep rallies, the event meant to be the most hype and school spirited, have turned into more of an obligatory assembly students view as an excuse to get out of class.
Going all out for the dress-up days, football game, and the week’s other festivities isn’t “cringe” – it’s the whole point of school spirit, and people not participating ruins it for everyone.
There are no excuses when it comes to lack of participation this week, as there are so many ways to dress up that require zero dollars. You could borrow clothes from friends/family, use things from around your house, go thrifting, etc.
With all of these low-effort, cheap ways to engage in this homecoming week, it’s extremely easy to support our football team and keep the student section active and spirited.
“It means a lot when people are supportive,” running back Josh Vandyke says.
Don’t let your fear of being the only one dressing up or looking goofy hold you back from supporting your peers and having fun.
High school goes by way too fast for us not to build our fellow students up and engage in the things that bring us as a grade together.
